Our Services
The Family Court Commissioner (FCC) conducts hearings and grants temporary orders in divorce, legal separation, and paternity cases. Court orders granted by the FCC are subject to review by the Judge assigned to your case if a parent makes a timely request [§767.17]. Since the office of the FCC cannot provide legal advice, parties seeking legal advice should contact an attorney.

The office of the Director of Court Services (DFCS) receives mediation referrals and directs parties to statutes and forms relevant to family court actions. The statutes and forms referenced on this site are those typically used in family court actions. The DFCS cannot provide legal advice.
A mediation referral service is available to help parents of minor children resolve custody and physical placement disagreements. A minor child is a child who is less than 18 years of age.
The FCC is part of the judicial branch and conducts Temporary Hearings in divorce matters. A Temporary Hearing may be held by video conference (Zoom) or in person at the Grant County Courthouse.
Parents have a duty under Wisconsin law to financially support their minor children. A party to a family court matter may seek an order for child support, medical support for minor children, or maintenance from a spouse.
A party may choose to modify an existing order of legal custody, physical placement, child support, and/or maintenance.
